  1. I agree with your comparison of Gregor not losing his independence in the film, and in the novel it showed that he had to depend on his family. You acknowledged the the time difference and that will play a big part in your analysis. I didn't think of the time but it makes a big difference. Great job on hitting the on the idea of the different views!

  2. For not being able to find many sources, you did well in analyzing the stories and comparing them. I agree that the time difference has a major effect on gender roles and is probably one of the major differences in the two stories. Also, the source you did include had a very interesting point of view to the story. I like how your views and how original they are. This essay will be very interesting.

  3. Jasmine, The Carlos Atanes film is set in the late 1930's, not the 1990's. I would like to have seen some research into the traditional roles of women during this time period. If you're going to argue that they were more active outside of the home in the 1930's than in 1912, then you're going to need some evidence to back that up. And remember, too, the geographical settings. While Kafka's story does not have a specific setting, the film has a very specific one--Spain during the Nazi occupation. You may want to try to find some sources that will help you to better understand the settings of the story and women's roles in those settings.
